We have a large portfolio of blue-chip container shipping lines, freight forwarders and retailers and have developed a reputation for delivering service, flexibility, close customer friendly support, cost-effective intermodal solutions in a rapidly changing transport sector.

Catalyst Rail Services Ltd commenced in 2004 after the Hams Hall, Birmingham road transport operations of ABP Connect were transferred to GB Railfreight. As a non core activity in GBRf it was then transferred to Catalyst.

In 2010 it was decided to launch Catalyst as a national “player” in the market by opening depots at Newcastle, Manchester, Southampton, Bristol, Felixstowe, Tilbury and Thamesport.

Our head office is still based at Coleshill in Birmingham.

We can provide "turnkey" solutions for your intermodal requirements using the maximum efficiency in service and minimising the cost in rail and road. We have proven in depth expertise and experience to manage rail space, from a single platform space, or whole wagon platform to full trains. We can provide intermodal solutions, combining the best of road and rail, with the support of our depot network to deliver containers from all of the major ports and terminals to their final end user destinations via the inland rail terminals. Our success with our clients and the 3 major rail companies demonstrates our ability and understanding of both road and rail operations within the UK and Europe.

In addition to Catalyst Rail Services Ltd we opened Catalyst Road Services Ltd to operate our contract fleet.

With the expansion of the business to cover the UK Mainland we purchased 40 vehicles to add to the existing fleet we operated.

Since our expansion we have grown the business sixfold and have offices and operations at all the UK major ports plus offices and operations at the main inland railheads in the UK.
